Family of havildar gets Rs 1 crore insurance claim
Deputy Commissioner Manmohan Sharma and Punjab National Bank (PNB) Solan Divisional Head Daya Nand Kardam on Saturday presented a Rs 1 crore insurance cheque to the family of havildar Jatinder Singh of the Jammu & Kashmir Rifles, who lost his life in an accident.
Havaldar Jatinder Singh was a PNB Rakshak Salary Account holder at the Dabhota branch in Nalagarh. The cheque was handed over to his mother, Sagari Devi, and wife, Mona Thakur, as part of the bank’s commitment to supporting the families of soldiers.
Speaking on the occasion, Manmohan Sharma paid tribute to the late soldier and emphasised the nation’s gratitude towards its armed forces. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to assisting serving and retired soldiers of Solan district, ensuring timely resolution of their issues. He also commended PNB’s efforts in providing financial support to the dependents of soldiers.
Daya Nand Kardam, the bank’s divisional head, explained that PNB offers an accident insurance claim of up to Rs 50 lakh for salaried employees and a general accident insurance claim of up to Rs 1 crore for soldiers, paramilitary personnel, and Agniveers. Additionally, in the case of air accidents, soldiers’ families are eligible for an insurance claim of up to Rs 1.85 crore.
