Fare benefit in HRTC buses for women to continue: Himachal Deputy CM

Shimla, July 19

Following a meeting of the Board of Directors of Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) here today, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri said here today that the concessional fare for women would continue in the HRTC buses. He added that the minimum fare has also not been increased even as the HRTC was looking to enhance its revenue and cut down its expenditure.

Honorarium of daily wagers raised

• The honorarium of the daily wage workers raised from Rs 375 to Rs 400, said the Deputy Chief Minister
• The process for recruitment of 357 conductors has been completed and they will be inducted into service soon
• The HRTC will purchase 297 electric vehicles
• 24 old Volvo buses will be replaced with new ones

The Deputy CM said that a decision had been taken to increase the honorarium of daily wage earners from Rs 375 to Rs 400. “The process of recruiting 357 conductors has been completed, and soon they would be inducted into the service,” he added.

Agnihotri announced that the HRTC would soon purchase 297 electric vehicles, for which tenders would be floated soon, “Besides, 24 old Volvo buses will be replaced with new ones,” he said. As many as 100 tempo travellers would be purchased and introduced on specific routes to ensure comfortable journey to the commuters. “Purchase of 250 diesel buses will also be made in the near future,” he said.

The BoD thanked the state government for providing adequate grant to the HRTC, and said that the corporation was committed to providing salaries and pensions to its employees on time.

HRTC Managing Director Rohan Chand Thakur assured that the corporation’s functioning would be improved in coming time and better services would be provided to people. Agnihotri said that the HRTC had entered its 50th year of existence.
