Theog MLA Rakesh Singha has slammed the Centre for skipping discussions with representatives of farmers before bringing farm ordinances and then turning those into laws. Speaking at a meeting of the Kisan Sabha, the CPM leader alleged that these laws would destroy the livelihood of farmers and nourish capitalism. On the occasion, Kisan Sabha state secretary Onkar Shad said the BJP was set to unleash its workers among the farmers to justify these anti-farmer laws. “The truth is, these laws have been brought to destroy the mandi system and allow the corporate sector to loot the farmers,” said Shad.
District chairman Satyawan Pundir said the Centre should have learnt from Himachal, where roadside arthiyas had swindled crores of rupees from the farmers. “Instead of learning from this, the Centre government has implemented this system of loot across the country,” said Pundir. Calling these farm laws as the most “fierce attack” on agriculture and food security of citizens, Pundir said the government had brought these to benefit the capitalists.
