Shimla, August 13
The 10th International Film Festival of Shimla (IFFS) will organise an exhibition to pay tributes to the enduring legacy of Hindi cinema legends Raj Kapoor and Dev Anand.
Visitors will have a chance to explore a photo gallery, view classic film clips and enjoy nostalgic music from the golden age of the Indian cinema. The festival will be held from August 16 to 18 at Gaiety Heritage Cultural Complex, Shimla.
“This exhibition at the IFFS honours the unmatched artistry of the two great artistes, who have left an indelible mark on millions of hearts,” said a spokesperson.
Many cinephiles believe that Raj Kapoor, fondly known as ‘the showman’, revolutionised Indian cinema with his visionary storytelling and grand productions. His films ‘Awaara’, ‘Shri 420’ and ‘Mera Naam Joker’ are named among the timeless classics of the Indian cinema.
The IFFS exhibition offers a deep dive into Kapoor’s genius, featuring rare photographs, film posters and personal memorabilia that celebrate his contributions as an actor, director and producer.
Dev Anand, the quintessential ‘evergreen hero’, captivated audiences with his suave demeanour, signature style and romantic roles. His illustrious career spanned six decades. “This exhibition will highlight Dev Anand’s charisma and versatility, showcasing a rich collection of film stills, costumes, handwritten notes and awards that trace his journey from a debonair man to a trailblazing filmmaker,” said the spokesperson. — TNS
