FIR registered over obscene remark on Facebook targeting Himachal CM's family

Nalagarh police have registered a case against an unknown individual for allegedly posting an obscene comment targeting the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister’s family in response to a Facebook post.

The charges include intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace and making a false statement to create fear and alarm in the public.

The complaint was filed by Nalagarh resident Manish Rajdev, who reported that the offensive comment appeared under a Facebook post made by the page Himachal Daily Post.

The post claimed that “the state of Himachal was grappling with disaster while the CM was lost in enjoyment.”

According to the complaint, a user identified as Ranjit Singh reacted to this post with an obscene comment directed at the CM’s family, which incited anger and outrage among Congress party workers.

The complainant demanded appropriate action and emphasised that such remarks against any political leader’s family are unacceptable.

Baddi additional SP, Ashok Verma, confirmed that a case has been registered under Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, along with Sections 353 and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against an unknown individual and further investigation is underway.
