Firecrackers in scrap explode, two children hurt
In a tragic incident, two children, aged 11 and 12, were injured today after they mishandled firecrackers found in scrap material. The accident occurred under Pandoh police post when the children discovered gunpowder from discarded firecrackers and decided to collect it.
According to the police, the children, curious and unaware of the danger, gathered the gunpowder on a piece of paper. They attempted to light it, which led to an explosion and caused them injuries. Upon getting information about the incident, the local police rushed to the spot and immediately transported the injured children to the zonal hospital in Mandi for medical treatment.
According to Mandi SP Sakshi Verma, the injured children were being treated and their condition was stable. She urged the public to be vigilant and report any such hazardous items to the authorities to prevent similar accidents in the future.
“This incident is under investigation and the local police are trying to find out how the firecrackers ended up in scrap,” the SP said.
