The Himachal Pradesh State Red Cross and District Red Cross Branch, Shimla, jointly organised a one-day first-aid training programme for 60 members of the Junior Red Cross team at Government Senior Secondary Girls School, Portmore, Shimla.
The training aimed to equip students with essential life-saving skills, including CPR, wound care, bandaging, and fracture management. Experienced trainers from the Home Guards Department provided hands-on training to the students.
Students received practical training on CPR, wound care, bandaging techniques, and safely transporting injured individuals to hospitals.
The training is part of the Red Cross’ efforts to empower youth and promote humanitarian values among students. School’s vice-principal and teachers appreciated the initiative and emphasized the need for future training programs.
State Red Cross assistant secretary Sanjeev Kumar said the primary objective of the State Red Cross is to make junior/youth Red Cross groups aware and capable through such programmes.
