In a campaign against drug peddlers, the Kangra police had registered four cases against five persons and confiscated “charas” and heroine from peddlers in the past few days.
Kangra SP Shalini Agnihotri said 287 grams of “charas” was recovered from a vehicle near the Sidhpur mosque, in Dharamsala, on September 20. A case has been registered against the driver of the vehicle, Khekh Ram and his companion Tikke Ram, both residents of the Bagani Post Office area, Fozal tehsil, in Kullu district, under Section 20,25/29-61-85 of the NDPS Act.
In another case, 88 grams of “charas” was recovered on the same day from Raj Kumar, a resident of Bada Bhangal in the Baijnath area of Kangra at Gharnala Chowk. A case has been registered against Raj Kumar under Section 20-61-85 of the NDPS Act. In the Sullah area of Kangra, 28 grams of “charas” was recovered from Sukhdev, a resident of Dakrair Ward No. 2 of Palampur at Atiyala Dai. A case was registered against Sukhdev under the NDPS Act, the SP said.
She added that in the Gaggal area of Kangra, 21.04 grams of “chitta” or heroine was recovered from motorcyclist Alok Kumar, a resident of Chavinda Devi in the Majhitha area of Amritsar district. A case was registered against Alok Kumar under the NDPS Act.
The SP said 36,000 ml of country-made liquor was recovered from a vehicle at Dhadunh Daihan on September 20 and driver Nishant, a resident of Ghadhoo village in Palampur, was booked under Section 39(1) A of the Himachal Pradesh Excise Act.
