Five youth, who were caught in the midst of gushing river water near Gurukund village in Chikni river, were rescued after much effort by the locals last evening in Nalagarh sub-division.

The youth, who went to take bath in the river, were caught unawares as the water level suddenly rose because of incessant rains in the nearby hills.

The local residents initiated rescue operation. They threw a rope towards the stranded youth and started pulling the rope in an effort to bring them ashore. The villagers successfully pulled the youth back even as the rising water threatened to drag them. The stranded youth work in the local industrial units.
