Flashflood warning issued for next 24 hours in Himachal

The meteorological department has issued a warning of light to moderate flashflood risk over the watersheds and neighbourhoods of Shimla, Mandi, Kangra, Sirmaur and Chamba districts for the next 24 hours as the state is set to witness heavy to very heavy rain in isolated parts.

As a result, surface runoff and inundation are very likely to occur at some fully saturated soils and low lying areas.

As per the department, light to moderate rainfall is very likely to continue at many places of the state till July 1 with few spells of very heavy to heavy rain at isolated places. A yellow weather warning is also issued for various districts of the state till July 1. While minimum temperatures are very likely to fall by 2°C to 3°C in the next two to three days, maximum temperatures are very likely to rise by 2°C to 4°C in the next two to three days.

Meanwhile, the state witnessed heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places and light to moderate rain at many places over the state during the past 24 hours. Palampur received 150 mm rain, which was the highest in the state followed by 110 mm rain in Jogindernagar in Shimla district.
