Folk dance, soulful music entrall audience at Kullu Dasehra fest

The historic Lal Chand Prarthi Kala Kendra burst into life again on the fourth day of the Kullu Dasehra Festival today. The day’s cultural showcase was a heartfelt tribute to the Kullu valley’s rich artistic heritage and enduring traditions.

Meanwhile, the third cultural evening yesterday transformed the festival into a vibrant musical celebration.

A spirited folk dance competition featuring cultural troupes from across the district was highlight of the day. From rhythmic footwork to soulful music, the performances captured the essence of Kullu’s diverse cultural landscape. Adorned in traditional costumes, ornate jewellery and regional embellishments, the participants offered a visual feast that transported the audience into the heart of Himachali heritage.

Both visitors and locals were captivated by the performances, which embodied the unity, culture and tradition that define Kullu Dasehra. The day concluded with thunderous applause, honouring the artistes who continue to keep the valley’s cultural legacy alive.

On the third cultural evening, renowned singer Arvind Rajput electrified the stage with his energetic performance, drawing the crowd into a rhythmic wave of Bollywood and Pahari melodies. His renditions of hits like ‘O Mere Humsafar’, ‘Koi Mil Gaya’, ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’, and ‘Yaad Aa Raha Hai Tera Pyar’ had the audience swaying and singing along. He also tugged at heartstrings with soulful Pahari numbers such as ‘Shimle Ni Basna Kasauli Ni Basna’.

Diljit mesmerised listeners with emotional ballads like ‘Ik Kudi Jihda Naam Mohabbat Hai’ and ‘Tere Bina Na Guzra Ae’, while Nitesh Rajput kept spirits high with Punjabi and Pahari tracks.

The popular Laman Band added a traditional flair with songs like ‘Raje Ri Ae Behdiye Saughni Meriye’ and ‘Shiv Kailashon Ke Baasi’.

The evening started with a soulful performance by the Home Guard Band, drawing festival-goers to the venue. Local artistes, including Tule Ram, Lachhi Ram, DK Musical Group, Tinku Band, Pakshita, Arun Bhardwaj and many others lit up the stage with a variety of musical acts.

Noteworthy performances by Rameshwar Sharma, Shweta Rana, Naresh Bhardwaj and Shalu Dhiman left a lasting impression.
