The State Food Commission inspected the Government Primary School, Government Secondary School and a fair price shop at Ruldu Bhatta here today.

Commission Chairman SP Katyal inspected the school kitchen system to check the quality of food, hygiene and the cooking safety provisions. He also checked school records.

Katyal talked to children, parents and mid-day meal workers and instructed that the shortcomings detected during the inspection should be removed. The school staff were instructed to improve the quality of food, ensure the presence of at least one parent daily to check the food, maintain hygiene while cooking and provide safe drinking water to the children.

During the inspection, local councillor Saroj Thakur was called to the spot and asked to ensure that the problem of garbage dumping and unhygienic environment around the school is resolved on a regular basis. The councillor was requested to attend meetings of the School Management Committee (SMC) so that unhygienic conditions around the school can be eliminated and children can be saved from catching infection.
