Former BSF officer is Director of Atal institute of mountaineering

Avinash Negi, a former officer of the Border Security Force, has been appointed as the Director of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, Manali.
The post had been vacant for the past few months.
Negi, a resident of Kinnaur, is a certified mountaineer, paraglider, skier and has passed advanced courses in the adventure sports with excellent grades.
Led 15-member team to mt everest

- He had also led a team of 15 members to Mt Everest, which is a world record because, for the first time, all members of a single team made it to the top of the world’s highest mountain

He is a decorated officer of the force and awarded with the Director General’s commendation roll and disks. He was also a part of a rescue team during the Kedarnath floods.
Negi’s efforts in the “Clean Himalayas and Save Glacier Campaign” was widely recognised. His team had brought seven tonnes of waste from the world’s highest peak.
