In a setback to the ruling Congress, former party spokesperson Kushal Jethi today rejoined the BJP in the presence of party’s state president Rajeev Bindal here. Bindal, while making the announcement in front of mediapersons, said, “Jethi has made a comeback to his own family to which he originally belonged.”

BJP leaders, including district party president Rattan Pal and Solan city president Shailender Gupta, wrapped Jethi with a party’s stole in a gesture to welcome him back into the party’s fold. Bindal expressed optimism that Jethi would contribute to the party like before and wished him good luck for his future.

Jethi, while responding to the queries of mediapersons, said, “Politics is a medium of service for me but I have observed that in the past about three-year tenure of the Congress government in the state, the ruling party is disintegrating.”

He said, “No grievance of party workers has been solved till today, as the Congress has no state, district or block level organisation ever since the whole body was dissolved about a year ago. No meeting is being held to address the grievances of the party functionaries, who are unable to get even small works executed,” he rued. He added, “I have rejoined the BJP, as it is the only political party where one can serve people.”

Jethi alleged that Health Minister DR Shandil, who is the local MLA, was a weak leader owing to his laid-back attitude. Shandil had failed to contribute to the Congress and preferred to stay away from the party functionaries, he added. Jethi had joined the Congress ahead of the Solan Municipal Corporation elections in 2021.

Asked about his allegations made against the BJP leadership as the reason for leaving the party, Jethi hesitated and said that he believed in making a new beginning.
