Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh (86) was on Friday admitted to cardiac care unit (CCU) at Indira Gandhi Medical College here after being flown in from Chandigarh where he was undergoing COVID-19 treatment at a private hospital in Mohali.

Virbhadra had been admitted to Max Hospital at Mohali after he tested positive for Covid on April 12.

He was immediately shifted to Max but had reportedly tested negative, a few days back.

Prior to this, Virbhadra’s son, Vikramaditya Singh, who is MLA from Shimla (Rural) too had tested positive and remained in home isolation at his residence “Holly Lodge”.

He was brought here from Chandigarh in the state government helicopter and driven straight to IGMC, where he has been admitted to CCU.

Medical Superintendent of IGMC Dr Janak confirmed that the former chief minister had been admitted to the CCU.

“His condition is stable but he is facing problem in breathing,” he said.

Later, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur went to IGMC to inquire about the health of Virbhadra and wish him speedy recovery. The former chief minister represents the Arki assembly segment in Solan.
