Former Kangra MP Rajan Sushant has demanded carving out of new districts in the state. In a statement issued here, he said the state government should fulfil the longstanding demand of granting the district status to Nurpur by incorporating Nurpur, Indora, Jawali and Fatehpur subdivisions into lower Kangra district.

Sushant justified the demand of the district status for Nurpur saying the population of Hamirpur and Una districts is 4.55 lakh and 5.21 lakh, respectively, whereas the population of four subdivisions in the Nurpur area is 4.38 lakh. — OC
