Block Development Officer, Bhawarna, Kesar Singh has charge-sheeted the former panchayat secretary of Pharerh for not handing over the records to his successor after his transfer on August 18.

Although new secretary Naresh Kumar assumed office the same day, he was not handed over the records by the outgoing official. Despite several reminders, notices and phone calls from the BDO office, he did not hand over the records, including cash book, ledger, bill book and general registers, to the new secretary.

Kesar Singh said as the matter was brought to his notice, he immediately charge-sheeted the secretary and also informed the higher authorities. The department would soon constitute a committee to look into the matter and later an FIR would be lodged against him. The BDO said the salary of the panchayat secretary had already been withheld. — OC
