Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Vikramaditya Singh laid the foundation stone of a multi-level parking facility on the Church Balloon road in Dalhousie of Chamba district today. The project, estimated to cost of Rs 1.73 crore, would provide parking space for around 120 vehicles.

Vikramaditya said, “Dalhousie is a beautiful and historical tourist destination established by the British. The state government is committed to enhancing tourist facilities and ensuring a comfortable experience for visitors. This new parking facility will not only benefit tourists but also ease congestion for local residents,” he added.

He announced plans for additional development work in the area, including the construction of urban huts near the parking complex to provide comfortable accommodation for tourists. “The government is actively exploring the potential of installing a ropeway project in Dalhousie to enhance tourist mobility and boost the region’s attractiveness,” he added.

Former minister Asha Kumari expressed gratitude to the minister for his initiative in addressing the region’s urban development needs. She said that Vikramaditya was the first Urban Development Minister since Jai Bihari Lal Khachi to visit Dalhousie, engage with locals, and address their concerns firsthand.
