Four persons have been arrested in connection with the violent assault on police personnel in Kiratpur village, under the jurisdiction of Majra Police Station in Sirmaur district. The incident occurred on June 13 during a law and order operation, when a group of miscreants attacked the police with sharp-edged weapons, leaving several personnel injured.
Following the incident, the Majra police registered an FIR on the same day under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), invoking Sections 299, 132, 191(2), 191(3), 190, 351(2) and 115(2) for assault, criminal conspiracy, and obstructing public servants in the discharge of duty.
Acting swiftly, the police arrested four accused on June 14. They were identified as Sumit Gupta (40), Manav Sharma (41), Raj Kumar (34) and Jai Prakash (39), all residents of Nahan tehsil. During interrogation, their role in the attack was confirmed, and they were taken into custody as per legal procedures. They will be produced in court for further proceedings.
Police officials confirmed that the injured personnel are receiving proper medical treatment and recovering well. Security has been intensified in the region to prevent further unrest. The investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are likely in the coming days.
