Four teachers from Chamba selected to tour Singapore for exposure visit

Four teachers from Chamba district have been selected for International Exposure Visit under the Education Department’s Strengthening Teaching-Learning and Results for States (STARS) Project. A total of 60 teachers from across the state will be visiting Singapore as part of the exposure tour. The group will be flagged of by Education Minister Rohit Thakur from Shimla on Thursday.

An Education Department spokesperson said the purpose of this international exposure visit was to familiarise teachers with global teaching methodologies, learning experiences and 21st-century educational skills such as experiential learning, group teaching, problem-solving methods and project-based learning.

During the visit, teachers will undergo international-level training and explore local schools in Singapore. Earlier, another group of teachers from the state had visited Singapore and gained valuable educational insights from the tour.

The four teachers selected from Chamba for this international educational tour are national award-winning teacher Yudhvir Tandon, central head teacher Anil Sharma, head teacher Mukesh Kumar and art teacher Vinod Kumar. The selection criteria considered factors such as educational and professional qualifications, teaching experience, contributions towards student development, services in tribal areas and state or national-level awards in education, said the spokesperson.

All selected teachers from Chamba have made remarkable contributions in their respective fields. Vinod Kumar, an art teacher currently serving at Government Secondary School, Hardaspura, has trained students who have excelled in painting and other co-curricular activities at district and state levels.

Anil Sharma, central head teacher at PM Shri Government Central Primary School, Mehla, has led his school management committee to excellence, receiving recognition at both district and block levels. His school currently has an enrolment of over 100 students.

Mukesh Kumar, serving as head teacher in Kahalel Education Block, has previously worked as a block resource coordinator and played a key role in increasing school enrolment to nearly 100 students last year. Yudhvir Tandon, a teacher at Government Primary School, Maura, is renowned for his innovative teaching techniques and has been honoured with both state and national teacher awards at a young age.

The selected teachers have expressed their enthusiasm for learning new teaching strategies from the visit and implementing them in their respective schools. The selected teachers also extended their gratitude to the Education Department for this opportunity.
