The two-day wet spell in the state has reduced the winter precipitation deficiency from 80 per cent to 66 per cent. The deficiency in February has reduced to 44 per cent. As per the weather department, the deficiency in precipitation will reduce further as a fresh active Western Disturbance will hit the region from February 25.
“Over the past two days, we have recorded snowfall and rainfall in almost every district. We have recorded the highest snowfall of 42 cm in Lahaul and Spiti while the highest rain of 56 mm has been recorded in Nagrota Suriyan of Kangra,” said a weather official.
Following the wet spell, the maximum temperatures have plummeted by nine to 11 degree Celsius in a couple of districts.
