The police have busted a gang of thieves and arrested its three members for allegedly being involved in a burglary at Kuttan village of Sansarpur Terrace in Jaswan tehsil of Kangra district.

Those arrested have been identified as Sukha, Vara and Dallu, all residents of Har Chakkian in Shahpur tehsil of Kangra. The Punjab Police had arrested two members of the gang, Suraj and Gogi, both residents of Talwara, in Hoshiarpur district recently. The duo was handed over to the Dehra police by the Punjab Police on a request.

Kangra SP Khushal Sharma said the accused were arrested for committing a burglary at Babita Thakur’s house at Kuttan village on the intervening night of June 26 and 27.

The police have recovered the car used in the crime, along with 60 grams of gold as well as some cash. The SP said they might be involved in similar burglaries in Kangra district.

A case under Sections 457 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code had been registered against the gang members at Dehra police station.
