Get prior approval, non-teaching HPU staff pursuing higer edu told
Registrar issues circular following concerns over staff enrolling sans nod
Taking serious note of non-teaching, technical and field staff members enrolling in higher education courses without approval, Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) has directed all non-teaching staff to obtain prior permission from the competent authority before pursuing higher studies.
A circular to this effect was issued on Tuesday by Registrar Prof Gian Sagar Negi, emphasising that no staff member will be allowed to enrol in any higher education or PhD programme without prior approval. The permission must be obtained before applying for admission to such courses.
The Registrar stated that it had come to the notice of the university that several staff members had been applying for admission to various programmes without seeking authorisation. The matter, he said, has been viewed seriously by Vice-Chancellor Prof Mahavir Singh and hence all staff members are required to follow the due procedure before taking up any such academic endeavour.
It may be recalled that in September this year, the Executive Council (EC) of HPU had granted approval allowing non-teaching staff to pursue Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) courses. However, as per the EC’s decision, such employees are required to complete their coursework by availing earned leave.
The latest directive reiterates the need for formal permission to ensure compliance with university norms and administrative discipline.
