Dharamsala, June 18
Girls have dominated the top positions in Class 12 results declared by the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) on Saturday.
While addressing a press conference here today, Education board chairman SK Soni said overall pass per centage was 93.91 per cent. A total of 88,003 students had appeared in the exams, out of which 82,342 passed.
He said girls dominated the top ten positions in the science, arts and commerce streams. Top ten positions in arts, science and commerce streams were bagged by 92 students, which included 76 girls and 16 boys. Overall the government schools performed better than private schools, he said.
The chairman said in science stream, 53 students were in top ten positions, which include 39 girls and 14 boys. In arts stream, there were 20 students in top ten positions, including 19 students from government schools.
In commerce stream, there were 19 students in top ten positions, including 2 boys and 17 girls. In commerce streams, 12 toppers were from government schools and 7 from private schools, the chairman said.
In science stream, Kshitz Sharma from New Gurukul Public School, Gopalnagar, Hamirpur district, Shaun Rana from Ishan Public Senior Secondary School, Samloti, Kangra district, and Akshita Sharma of Government Senior Secondary School, Berthen, Bilaspur district jointly topped scoring 98.6 per cent marks.
In commerce stream, Tanisha Bharadwaj from Government Senior Secondary School, Thathal, Una district, topped scoring 98 per cent marks, while Malya Bhatia from Government Senior Secondary School, Dehra, Kangra district, secured second position scoring 97.4 per cent and Shagun Singh from BL Central Public School, Kunihar, Solan district was third scoring 96.8 per cent.
In arts stream, Vani Gautam from SVPM Government Model Senior Secondary School, Ghumarwin, Bilaspur district, topped scoring 98.8 per cent marks. Second potion was jointly bagged by Angel from Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Chamba, and Vanishka from Government Senior Secondary School, Sai, Kangra district, scoring 98 per cent while third postion was jointly bagged by two students, including Sheetal Verma from Government Senior Secondary School Khalag, Shimla district, and Tanvi Verma from Government Senior Secondary School, Bhojnagar, Solan district, scoring 97.8 per cent.
