Give laptops to pvt school students too, association asks govt

The Private Schools Welfare Association at a meeting held at Him Academy Public School here today urged the state government to not discriminate against students of their institutions in distribution of laptops to meritorious students. Jagjit Thakur, state president of the association, said that it had been learnt that the government had excluded the students of private schools form the list of meritorious students who would be given laptops. He added that the government should give laptops, as per the earlier norms.

Pankaj Lakhanpal said that it was an unnecessary practice to submit all documents every year for the renewal of affiliation with the education board. He added that affiliation was granted after all mandatory documents were scrutinized and inspections carried out.

He said that simplifying the process of the renewal of affiliation would save money and time of both schools and the education board. He also raised the issue of the fitness of school buses. He added that instead of 15 years of fitness for school buses, the government should increase it to 20 years. Members of the association from other districts, including Una, Mandi, Shimla, Kangra and Bilaspur, also attended the meeting.
