As part of Swachhta Hi Sewa Pakhwada 2025, SJVN, a Navratna CPSE, provided two solid waste management electric vehicles to the Municipal Corporation, Shimla.
The vehicles were flagged off by Harish Janartha, Member of the Legislative Assembly, Shimla (Urban), and Ajay Kumar Sharma, Director (Personnel), SJVN, from Mall Road, Shimla. Bhupender Attri, Municipal Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Shimla, along with senior officials from SJVN and MC Shimla, was also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Sharma said that SJVN had extended financial support of Rs 25.44 lakh to the Municipal Corporation, Shimla, for the procurement of two eco-friendly electric solid waste management vehicles. “The deployment of these EVs will significantly strengthen Shimla’s cleanliness drive by enabling zero-emission garbage collection and contributing to improved air quality,” he said.
“The initiative is part of ‘Clean Green Festivities - Eco-friendly and zero-waste celebrations’, one of the five key pillars of ‘Swacchotsav’, the theme of this year’s Swachhta Hi Sewa campaign. By supporting sustainable waste management solutions, SJVN reaffirms its commitment to environmental stewardship and corporate social responsibility,” Sharma added.
Under the aegis of the Swachh Bharat Mission, the ninth edition of Swachhta Hi Sewa Pakhwada, themed “Swachhotsav”, commenced on September 17 and will culminate on October 2, 2025. The 15-day campaign aims to mobilise millions across the nation in a collective call to action for Swachhta.
