The Municipal Corporation, Shimla, removed and seized goods of 13 unauthorised street vendors across various markets in the town. Three vendors each were evicted from Lower Bazaar and near Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), with officials also confiscating items from four shopkeepers and three baby strollers from vendors near AG Chowk.

According to Tehbazaari Inspector Jyoti Prakash, the action followed numerous complaints about vendors setting up baby strollers without permission. Despite repeated warnings, vendors continued to operate, prompting today’s confiscation. The Municipal Corporation conducts weekly inspections every Sunday to identify and remove unauthorized vendors.

Four shopkeepers in Lower Bazaar were also found to be encroaching on public space outside their shops. Meanwhile, the corporation is developing a street vendor policy that will designate specific areas as vending zones, marked with blue lines, to better regulate street vending activities.
