Governor launches 'Arcaen', an anthology celebrating folklore
Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla today launched “Arcaen”, an anthology of folklore, at Raj Bhavan. This comprehensive collection is the result of a collaborative effort by final-year students of BA English Honours and MA English, under the guidance of Snigdha Bhatt and Asmita Sharma, Assistant Professors in the Department of English at St Bede’s College, Shimla.
“Arcaen” presents a rich tapestry of stories, reflecting the cultural heritage of various communities. The anthology offers profound insights into shared human experiences, preserving oral traditions and presenting narratives that have been passed down through generations. Through its diverse stories and universal themes, it highlights resilience, and relationship between people and their surroundings.
On the occasion, the Governor praised St Bede’s College for this remarkable initiative, which not only provided students with the opportunity to showcase their writing talents but also encouraged them to explore and document the cultural narratives of their regions. He specifically congratulated Prof Molly Abraham for her leadership and vision in guiding students to delve into the oral traditions.
The Governor also emphasised the significance of preserving oral traditions, acknowledging the anthology’s contribution to fostering a deeper appreciation for storytelling and collective cultural experiences.
