Taking cognisance of the story titled “Jawali villager struggles to get enrolled in IRDP list” — which was published in The Tribune in these columns on August 1 — the Governor has ordered the Nurpur SDM to conduct an inquiry. The SDM has been asked to submit a report on Pratap Chand, a resident of Dawal village in Harsar gram panchayat of Jawali subdivision, on Monday.

Pratap, who belongs to the OBC category, has been struggling for the past four years to get his name enrolled in the panchayat’s Integrated Rural Development Programme (IRDP) list but all his efforts have come to a naught. Initially, his wife used to take up the family’s case at gram sabha meetings, but she died three years back.

Pratap alleges that the panchayat lied to him three years ago that his name was included in the IRDP list.
