Accusing the BJP regime of adopting double standards in booking people for violating social distancing norms, Congress president Kuldeep Rathore today said the voice of the opposition cannot be muffled with threats.

Addressing a press conference here today, Rathore said the government was clearly targeting the Congress in so far as violation of social distance norms is concerned while its own people are getting away with anything. “The Congress will continue to raise issues concerning the public, irrespective of the action or consequences,” he remarked.

Rathore said the Congress as the principal opposition party had always resorted to peaceful means to stage a protest. “Unlike the BJP which has always been very aggressive in its protest, Congress believes in the principles of Mahatma Gandhi,” he said.

Rathore further added that the BJP, instead of focusing on tackling Covid, is talking of Mission Repeat. “This only goes on to prove that the BJP is power hungry and it is mindlessly pursuing this agenda,” he said. He demanded that a White Paper be issued regarding the money spent from the Covid fund so that people can know where the money has been utilized.

He criticized the government for enhancing bus fare and power tariff which, he said, had burdened the common man and should be withdrawn.
