Govt taking stringent measures to curb drug menace: Speaker
Himachal Pradesh Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania inaugurated a police post in the border region of Hatli in the Bhattiyat Assembly constituency on Friday. Addressing a public meeting on the occasion, Pathania emphasised that strong law and order was essential for the development of any region. He highlighted that since Hatli serves as a key entry and exit point of the district, the police post would play a crucial role in ensuring better law enforcement for both local residents and district visitors.
Pathania said the Sihunta police post has been converted into a full-fledged police station and the opening of a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) office in Chowari subdivision. Additionally, divisional-level offices of key departments have been established in the region. He further assured the people that a civil court will soon be set up in the Bhattiyat constituency.
Raising concerns over the growing menace of drug abuse, Pathania stressed that the state government was taking stringent measures to curb drug trafficking. The police are actively working to identify and take strict action against those involved in drug-related activities. He urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in tackling this issue.
During the event, Superintendent of Police Abhishek Yadav briefed the Speaker about various initiatives undertaken by Chamba Police to maintain law and order.
