Health Minister Vipin Parmar said that following guidelines of the Government of India all health sub centres were being strengthened in the state and 400 Community Health Officers (CHO) would be appointed in the centres within a week.
Parmar, who was here yesterday to inaugurate 24-hour emergency health services in the upgraded Civil Hospital at Rehan in Fatehpur assembly constituency, said that nurses with B.Sc (nursing) degrees and imparted special training by IGNOU would be appointed as CHOs in the health sub centres.
The minister informed that the CHOs would be appointed in all 2,200 functional sub centres besides 208 medical officers in other health institutions across the state. He said that the state government had appointed as many as 800 doctors during the last two years.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur had announced upgrade of Community Health Centre at Rehan to 50-bed civil hospital a year ago during his visit in Fatehpur. But even after one year of the announcement only two doctors had been appointed in the civil hospital. He said after starting round the clock health services in civil hospital, people of 17 gram panchayats would be benefited.
Lashing out at the previous Virbhadra Singh government for upgrading 103 health institutions just a few months before the last Assembly elections in December 2017, Parmar said the exercise was only a political gimmick. He said the Jai Ram Thakur government had decided to develop health institutions in the state as Wellness Centres which would strengthen health services in rural areas.
Kirpal Parmar, former Rajya Sabah member, and Arjun Singh Thakur MLA Jawali were also present.
Earlier, the minister gave away prizes and honoured winners of inter-school quiz competition organized by the ABVP in Government Degree College at Dehri on the occasion of the 157th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. As many as 2,243 students of 54 schools participated in the competition.
