Govt to attract film producers: Himachal CM
Shimla, January 23
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today said that the government would promote film production in the state as Himachal was blessed with rich culture, history and picturesque locations.
Actors Nana Patekar and Rajpal Yadav along with producer Anil Sharma and other crew members of the film Journey called on the Chief Minister at his official residence late last night. “To promote Himachal as a favourite destination for film production, the state government has formulated a comprehensive Film Policy. We are also planning to set up a film facilitation cell,” Sukhu said.
The Chief Minister said that a single window platform in the Department of Information and Public Relations would be set up for granting permission, thereby ensuring a prompt online process within three working days. “Our government will facilitate film shooting so that producers choose Himachal as a preferred location,” he added.
He said that the government would allow units engaged in outdoor shooting of films in the state to use airstrips and helipads located in various parts of Himachal. He added that the state government was also planning to institute annual film awards with at least 50 per cent of shooting having taken place in the state.
He said that the creation of a film development fund for organising festivals, giving away awards and related activities was also under the consideration of the government. Chief Minister’s Principal Adviser (Media) Naresh Chauhan and Shimla Mayor Surinder Chauhan were present on the occasion.
