Govt to bear native's surgery expenses in Telangana

Shimla, April 25

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur today thanked the Telangana Government for helping Lalit Kumar, who was stranded at Kukatpalli due to curfew but had to undergo a surgery for LAP appendectomy in the Omini hospital there. Lalit is a native of Lalyar village in the Tauni Devi area of Hamirpur district.

The Chief Minister also lauded the efforts of B Lakshmi Narayan Reddy, Inspector of Telangana Police, who paid Rs 20,000 to the hospital from his own pocket, thus establishing a high example of humanity.

Thakur has written a letter of appreciation to Reddy in recognition.

A spokesperson for the state government said here that Lalit had called the Covid-19 helpline on April 16 for medical assistance. He added that the hospital raised a bill of Rs 60,000 for his surgery that was reduced to Rs 35,000 on the request of the government. The Himachal Government has decided to bear Lalit’s hospital expenses from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
