The state government will develop the tourism potential of Bilaspur district and there will be no dearth of funds for the purpose, said Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu while addressing people and officers of the district administration at Namhol during a short stay on his way to Mandi today.

Sukhu was on his way to inaugurate the Mahashivratri festival in Mandi. Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Minister Anirudh Singh and Arki MLA Sanjay Awasthi were accompanying him.

Sukhu said that with the construction of a four-lane highway, the traffic of tourists had increased many folds with a potential of greater tourism activities. He added that activities like water sports, paragliding, water cruising, etc could generate new job opportunities and help in improving the economy of the area.

Bilaspur Deputy Commissioner Abid Hussain Sadiq invited the Chief Minister to the closing ceremony of the Nalwari Fair on March 23. He also requested Sukhu to inaugurate the International Paragliding Championship starting on March 23 at Bandladhar in Bilaspur and water sports activities at Koldam. The Chief Minister assured the Deputy Commissioner that he would be present on both occasions.
