The state government will soon approach the HP High Court to give relief to people from the restrictions imposed by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on the number of floors in buildings in planning areas.

Suresh Bhardwaj, Urban Development and Town and Country Planning (TCP) Minister, said this while reviewing the progress of various projects here today.

He said, “The department is looking for ways to provide relief to the people affected by the NGT orders regarding the number of floors in the planning areas. The government has decided to approach the High Court to seek relief”. He added that he had reviewed the whole issue and the matter would be expedited.

The minister directed urban development and TCP officials to attend the meeting along with the status reports and the road map for next six months. He said different approaches had been adopted for different schemes and every scheme would be monitored and reviewed fortnightly. The minister said that Shimla Smart City Limited would give a presentation about the ongoing projects and the targets set for the next six months. Besides, the Urban Development Department would provide status reports and the targets for all projects for the next six months.

He added that the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana National Urban Livelihood Mission, Rajiv Awas Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Street Vendors Atma Nirbhar Nidhi, and the Swachh Bharat Mission were the ambitious schemes launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He said he would review all these projects on a fortnightly basis and the departments had also been directed to come up with a six-month target plan.
