Govt to raise issue of pending Rs 1,200 crore with Centre: Dy CM

Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri today said that Himachal Pradesh would raise the issue of pending Rs 1,200 crore under the Jal Shakti Mission with the Centre.

Agnihotri chaired a high-level review meeting of the Jal Shakti Department here today. He directed officials to prioritise and complete all pending works of the department within the stipulated time frame.

While reviewing the status of the Jal Jeevan Mission, the Deputy CM said that although Rs 6,300 crore was sanctioned by the Centre, only Rs 5,100 crore had been received so far. “An amount of Rs 1,200 crore is still pending with the Centre and the state government would strongly take up the matter of releasing the pending amount,” he said.

During the financial year 2024-25, out of Rs 920 crore sanctioned, the state has received only Rs 137 crore and Rs 783 crore is yet to be disbursed, he said.

He added that effective management of water resources and ensuring a reliable water supply remains a key priority of the state government
