In a significant move to promote environmentally sustainable industrial development and enhance resource efficiency among micro small and medium enterprises (MSME) units, a stakeholder consultation workshop was organised under the ‘Greening of MSMEs’ initiative in Solan. The workshop witnessed active participation from entrepreneurs and industry representatives from the industrial hubs of Baddi and Nalagarh.

The workshop provided participants with in-depth knowledge on key subjects such as energy conservation, waste management, green financing, water conservation and recycling, and resource efficiency. Experts emphasised the concept of Resource Efficient Cleaner Production (RECP), outlining how MSMEs can optimise production using fewer resources while upholding environmental responsibilities.

The ‘Greening of MSMEs’ initiative is being implemented under the Government of India’s RAMP (Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance) programme, with support from the World Bank. The primary objective is to empower the MSME sector both technically and financially. Under this initiative, approximately 1,900 MSMEs in the state will be integrated into the greening process.
