Hamirpur MP Anurag Thakur today led a road show in Una city to create awareness regarding the Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms among shopkeepers. The campaign was part of the nationwide ‘GST Bachat Utsav’, being organised by the BJP from September 22 to October 2. He was accompanied by Una MLA Satpal Singh Satti and other local BJP leaders.

Anurag, while addressing mediapersons, hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision on the GST reforms, which would benefit shopkeepers and businessmen, besides reducing the prices of goods in the market and easing the financial burden on common people.

The MP said that the Prime Minister had made a promise of ‘One Nation-One Tax’ during his Independence Day speech. He added that the GST on cement and the hotel industry had been slashed by 10 per cent, which would bring down the cost of construction and boost the tourism industry.

Anurag said that the GST on two-wheelers had been reduced, making these vehicles affordable for ordinary citizens. Likewise, the GST on daily use items such as dairy products and grocery items, too, had been slashed, directly benefiting all households, he added.

However, he said that common people in Himachal Pradesh would not get the benefit of the GST reforms because the Congress government had imposed heavy taxes on cement, petrol and diesel. He asked why the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu government was harassing and punishing the people of the state despite getting a huge respite from the Central Government.

Anurag said that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar had been very successful. He added that the BJP-JDU combine would take Bihar ahead on the road to development and progress.
