Kangra, February 9
Members of Shri Guru Ravidas Mahasaba, Kangra, today celebrated Ravidas Jayanti and organised a community lunch.
They took out a “Shoba yatra” from Sri Ravidas Bhawan, Icchhi, which passed through different areas of Kangra to celebrate the occasion.
PC Bhatia, state president of the mahasaba, said a large number of people joined the rally, which passed through Bahri Gaggal, Gurkhari, Birta Tehsil Chowk, Kachiari and Kholi. The rally concluded at Icchhi after covering a distance of about 10 km.
MLA Pawan Kajal, who flagged the rally, called upon the youth to follow the ideals of Guru Ravidas.
He also laid the foundation stone for a community bhawan to be built at a cost of Rs 10 lakh.
He said the building would be equipped with modern facilities.
Meanwhile, residents of Rait and Saranu villages of Shahpur Assembly segment along with Congress leader Kewal Singh Pathania and his supporters too celebrated the occasion. They prayed at the Ravidas temple and offered flowers.
