Guv launches short film on drug abuse
In a significant step towards combating the rising menace of drug abuse, particularly the use of heroin (synthetic drugs), Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla launched a short film titled ‘Chitta’ at the Circuit House in Mandi district today. Directed by Deepak Mattu, the film aims to raise awareness among the youth about the dangers of drug addiction through music and impactful storytelling.
Inspired by the Governor’s ongoing campaign, ‘Nasha Mukt Himachal (Drug-Free Himachal)’, Deepak Mattu took the initiative to create this film as part of the larger fight against substance abuse. The song and music for the film have been composed by Deepak Mattu himself, while Shashi Chauhan directed the video. The film features performances by Sonali, Monika and Mukul. Sponsored by the Mandi Municipal Corporation as part of its anti-drug campaign, the four-minute film delivers a compelling message against drug abuse.
The Governor congratulated Deepak Mattu and his team for their commendable effort and expressed hope that the film would significantly contribute to raising awareness in society. He emphasised the need for proactive involvement of the youth in such initiatives, stating, “If the youth themselves come forward to fight this battle, we can eradicate drug abuse from society.”
