In what could cause further friction between Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and the state government over the issue of allotment of Nautor land, Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi today said the Governor’s comment on the matter was unfortunate. Negi, while addressing a press conference here today, said it was not the first time that the exemption in FCA was being sought for Nautor allotment. Negi said that three former Governors had given such exemption in the past.

Negi said that under the rules, farmers or other families having less than 20 bighas of land in tribal areas were eligible to get Nautor land. He said that till date there had been no irregularity in the rules of Nautor and the Nautor land had been allotted even during the BJP government.

“The Governor has asked for the list of pending cases of Nautor. The number of pending cases is 12,742, which are in process. The Raj Bhavan has asked for the name and address of all cases, which will be made available. But the question is what difference will it make?” Negi asked.

He further said that he had met the Governor five times regarding this matter, and his remark that Raj Bhawan was not for fulfilling the poll promises was unfortunate.

Targeting the BJP leaders, Negi said that they should also clarify their stand on this issue. He asked the BJP leaders whether they are against giving Nautor land to the tribal people.
