Gym equipped with state-of-art facilities at Dharamsala sports complex
The Dharamsala sports complex has been reopened to the public and athletes following extensive renovations. As part of the upgrades, a new gym equipped with state-of-the-art facilities was inaugurated Wednesday by Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa, replacing the outdated equipment in the facility.
During the inauguration, Bairwa directed Public Works Department (PWD) officials to ensure proper maintenance of the indoor stadium, emphasising that players should not face any inconvenience. He also instructed the District Youth and Sports Services Department to develop a plan and proposal for the expansion of the sports complex so that necessary funding could be allocated.
Beyond Dharamsala, efforts are underway to improve sports infrastructure across Kangra. Bairwa stated that steps are being taken to promote sports activities in Nurpur, Jaisinghpur, Nagarota Bagwan, Baijnath, and Chambi, with instructions issued to complete pending stadium projects in these areas. Additionally, a proposal for an integrated sports complex in Dehra is being developed, with the Youth Sports Services Department tasked with initiating necessary actions.
In a move to enhance athlete performance, yoga sessions will also be introduced at the Dharamsala sports complex. The sessions aim to improve players’ concentration and mental strength, with officials directed to take the required steps for implementation.
The recent developments mark a significant step towards boosting sports infrastructure and athlete training facilities in the region, ensuring that players have access to modern equipment and well-maintained venues.
