The district has suffered a loss to the tune of over Rs 40 crore, including Rs 10 crore in the past two days, during the current rainy season. Stating this here today, Deputy Commissioner Amarjit Singh said the Meteorological Department had issued an orange alert for the district for the next two days.
He asked people to refrain from going near rivers and streams.
The DC said the Irrigation and Public Health Department had suffered the maximum loss of Rs 7.56 crore, while PWD incurred loss to the tune of Rs 2.53 crore. He said the electricity board had also suffered loss. He advised officials of the Revenue Department and disaster management authority to stay alert as they could receive distress calls any time.
