Hamirpur gets Rs1,956 crore credit plan for next fiscal
A credit plan of Rs 1,956 crore has been proposed for Hamirpur district for the next fiscal year under the Priority Lending Programme (PLP) by NABARD. The plan, which aims to bolster the district’s economic growth, was presented during a meeting chaired by Additional District Magistrate Rahul Chauhan.
Speaking at the meeting, the ADM highlighted that the credit plan is designed to support sustainable development in key sectors, including agriculture, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), housing, renewable energy, and social infrastructure. For the next fiscal year, Rs 745.03 crore has been earmarked for agriculture and MSMEs, Rs 223.24 crore for education, energy, and social infrastructure, and Rs 987.72 crore for housing and renewable energy projects.
Chauhan described the PLP as a vital catalyst for empowering rural India, aligning with the priorities set by the Reserve Bank of India and national and state governments. He noted that the credit projections were formulated by considering the additional potential created through completed infrastructure projects in the district.
The ADM also underscored the role of banks and financial institutions in achieving the district’s credit and development goals. He urged all stakeholders to collaborate and translate these credit projections into measurable outcomes. Departments and banks were encouraged to identify viable projects and conduct awareness camps to educate farmers and entrepreneurs about central and state government schemes in agriculture, MSMEs, and other sectors.
The meeting was attended by the District Development Manager of NABARD, the Lead Bank District Manager, the District Planning Officer, Deputy Directors, and officials from various departments.
