Hamirpur woman dies after alleged assault by juvenile
A 40-year-old woman who was seriously injured in an alleged sexual assault in a village near here died at PGI Chandigarh late on Thursday night.
The woman was attacked by a minor on November 3 while she went to the fields to cut grass. Villagers found her lying in a pool of blood and rushed her to the local medical college and hospital. She was later referred to PGI Chandigarh due to the severity of her injuries.
The Superintendent of Police, Bhagat Singh Thakur, confirmed the woman's death. He said the accused has been taken into custody and has admitted to the crime. As the perpetrator is a minor, he would be dealt with under juvenile law.
