Hamirpur's Vikas Thakur shines in CWG

Hamirpur, August 4

Vikas Thakur, who hails from Patnaun village of the district, has won a silver medal in men’s weightlifting 96 kilogram category at Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

His native village was elated by his achievement. Kumar Chand Thakur, uncle of Vikas, said a grand function would be organised for Vikas when he would arrive here on August 13. Vikas had brought laurels not only to the district but to the state and country, he added. His uncle also distributed sweets in the village.
