Harshwardhan reviews works in Nahan
Industries, Parliamentary Affairs, and Labour & Employment Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan chaired a high-level review meeting of the District Planning, Development, and 20-Point Programme in Nahan today.
Assembly Deputy Speaker Vinay Kumar, Shimla MP Suresh Kashyap, Paonta Sahib MLA Sukh Ram Chaudhary and Nahan MLA Ajay Solanki were among those present in the meeting.
Chauhan stated that comprehensive discussions were held on the district’s ongoing projects and he underlined the state government’s resolve to fast-track development across all sectors. He directed the district administration to ensure robust monsoon preparedness and urged the Deputy Commissioner to convene regular inter-departmental meetings for swift redressal of public grievances.
Under MGNREGA, 103,037 job cards were issued and wages worth Rs 5,734.96 lakh disbursed in 2024–25. Thirty-nine self-help groups were formed or restructured, and land was allotted to 101 homeless or landless individuals, including 51 Scheduled Caste, 3 Scheduled Tribe, and 47 other beneficiaries.
Under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana, 2,507 tonnes of foodgrains were distributed to below the poverty line (BPL) families. The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana saw 335 houses constructed, while 604 urban beneficiaries from Nahan, Paonta Sahib and Rajgarh also received housing support.
In rural areas, 718 household toilets were constructed.
A large-scale plantation drive resulted in 3.91 lakh saplings being planted over 520.10 hectares. Under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, 158 km of rural roads were upgraded. The Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board delivered 734.06 million units of power under the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification Scheme.
Budgetary approvals were also announced — Rs 1.85 crore for 59 schemes under the Backward Area Sub-Plan, Rs 11 crore for 790 schemes under the MLA Area Development Fund, Rs 3.55 crore under the Public Participation Programme, Rs 20.59 lakh under the CM Village Road Scheme, and Rs 4.87 crore for 229 schemes under the Regional Decentralised Planning Programme.
