The minister was speaking during a day-long foot tour of the area on Saturday. As part of the tour, he offered prayers at the revered Chandreshwar Maharaj (Chanpuriya) temple.

Highlighting the area’s tourism potential, Chauhan said the ancient temple of Lord Chandreshwar Maharaj, surrounded by scenic beauty, was a major attraction in itself.

With proper planning, conservation, and infrastructure enhancement, Chandpurdhar could be transformed into a leading destination for nature lovers and spiritual seekers alike, he added.

“If developed with care and vision, Chandpurdhar can become one of Himachal Pradesh’s prime tourism spots — ideal for family picnics, eco-tourism, and culturally rooted experiences,” Chauhan said. “Such places not only attract visitors but also create new economic opportunities and strengthen the local economy through employment generation.”

The minister said the area, which is under the Shillai Assembly segment, was known for its untouched natural landscapes and tranquil environment, but remained largely unexplored despite being easily accessible from the plains.

“Areas like Uttarakhand, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana are at a close proximity, and once the construction of National Highway 707 is complete, reaching Chandpurdhar from Paonta Sahib will become safer and significantly quicker by road,” he added. Responding to a long-standing demand from the temple committee, Chauhan announced a financial grant of Rs 10 lakh for temple development.

The visit marks a significant step toward integrating Chandpurdhar into the state’s broader tourism map, blending spiritual heritage with eco-tourism and rural development.
