The Himachal Pradesh High Court has reserved its decision in the matter pertaining to handing over the investigation in Vimal Negi’s death case to the CBI. After hearing the matter at length, Justice Ajay Mohan Goel reserved the verdict on this issue.

During the hearing of the case, on the request of the petitioner, Vimal Negi’s wife, the court impleaded the Union Home Secretary and the CBI as party respondents in this case.

The court ordered to take the status report filed by the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) on record. Now the applicant could get a copy of this report, as per the law, if he or she wants.

During the course of hearing, the court was told on behalf of the applicant that there had been a contradiction in the status report of the SIT and the DGP. So, the SIT investigation by the state police was under suspicion. It was alleged that the SIT was including only those documents in investigation which the government wanted in the investigation. It was alleged that the SIT, encroaching on its jurisdiction, gave the clean chit to corrupt officials involved in the Pekhuwala solar power project.

While justifying the SIT investigation on behalf of the government, Advocate General Anup Rattan contended that as the investigation had not been completed yet, they should be given additional time to proceed in the investigation. If the investigation was handed over to the CBI, then the morale of the state police would be badly affected. The court reserved its decision in the matter after hearing the arguments of all parties.
